Security Stabilizes in Nasir and Ulang: Chief of General Staff Urges Residents to Return Home

Juba – Al-Wadi Newspaper

The Chief of General Staff of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), General Faul Nang Ma-gok, has called on residents of Nasir and Ulang counties in Upper Nile State to return to their homes, assuring them that security has been restored and government forces are now in full control of areas previously affected by conflict.

In a press conference held in Juba following his field visit to the state, General Magok reassured citizens of improved security conditions, stating that life is gradually returning to normal in both Nasir and Ulang after national forces successfully secured the regions and neutralized potential threats.

“We assure the people of Nasir and Ulang that the situation is stable. The government is committed to protecting them and ensuring their safe return to their original areas,” said Magok, urging citizens to resume their daily activities and contribute to the efforts of reconstruction and development.

Nasir and Ulang counties had been plagued by insecurity and armed conflicts in recent years, leading to the displacement of thousands of civilians and a deterioration in humanitarian and public service conditions. The Chief of Staff’s remarks come at a time when the government is pushing for deeper stabilization and reintegration of local communities, with support from international partners.

General Magok further emphasized that the armed forces would continue their presence in strategically sensitive areas, in coordination with local authorities, to prevent any resurgence of violence and ensure lasting peace.
