South Sudan’s Ministry of General Education, through the National Examinations Council, officially released the 2024 Primary School Certificate Examination results on Tuesday in the capital, Juba. The exams were conducted from November 18 to 22, 2024, but the results were delayed for nearly five months due to lack of funding, preventing students from enrolling in secondary schools on time.

At the press conference announcing the results, Minister of General Education, Kuyok Abol Kuyok, stated that the exams were held in 1,665 schools across 551 examination centers nationwide.

“A total of 79,010 students registered for the exams, including 43,266 males and 35,740 females. However, only 77,264 students actually sat for the exams (42,257 males and 35,007 females), while around 1,746 students were absent,” the Minister said.

He confirmed that 73,326 students passed the exams, comprising 40,427 males and 32,899 females, resulting in an overall pass rate of 94.9% with an average performance score of 73.1%.

The Minister also noted that exams took place in 1,814 schools across 522 centers, and that 3,878 students failed, having scored below 249 marks.

Subject Performance:

  • Best performance was in Science and Christian Religious Education, with a pass rate of 79.9%.
  • Weakest performance was recorded in Mathematics (61%) and Islamic Religious Education (51%).

Top Performing Schools:

  1. JCC Model Primary School ranked first nationwide.
  2. Venus Star Academic came in second.
Both schools are located in Central Equatoria State.

Top Students:

  • Felix Luala Wani Job and Moses Jerry Asir Okaya, both from JCC, scored 453 marks, tying for first place nationally.
  • Gift Shanedia Remis Alowi, also from JCC, was the top-performing female student, scoring 451 marks, followed closely by Sabrine Kiji Paulino Francis, who earned the same score.

Ministry Instructions:

Minister Kuyok urged parents to collect official results from the schools where students sat for the exams or use the mobile results app:

“I officially announce the release of the 2024 Primary School Certificate results. Citizens can access the official results at schools or via the digital app by dialing 1138, followed by the candidate’s seat number, and results will be sent instantly.”

Praise for JCC’s Performance:

JCC Headmistress, Pasca Mora, attributed the school’s outstanding results to the dedication and hard work of the teaching staff:

“We have qualified, committed teachers. These results aren’t surprising—we work from 6 AM to 6 PM. The results speak for themselves. This isn’t just talk; it’s the result of experience and dedication. And it’s not the first time we’ve topped the results.”

She concluded:

“If we look at our records, we’ve always been at the top—not just this year or last year. We work with sincerity, and our success is a product of that effort.”
