H.E Gen. Taban Deng Gai has today met Eritrean Ambassador to South Sudan H.E Yohannes Teclemichael to discuss the evolving security situation in the country.
The Ambassador implored Gen. Taban and all the political leaders in the Republic of South Sudan to de-escalate tensions and work for peace and unity of the country noting that peace in South Sudan is both a necessity for economic and infrastructural development as well as a strategic interest of Eritrean government and the IGAD region.
H.E the Vice President assured the Ambassador that the evolving security situation would be address highlighting the assurance and commitment of H.E President Salva to peace.
The vice President reiterated the call for calm across the country as leaders work to de-escalate the tensions. He further urged South Sudanese to shun tribalism, refrain from hate speech and propaganda as these may undermine the governmentโ€™s effort to restore peace and stability.
