The SPLM/A-IO has accused the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) of bombing their camp in Wunliet, near Juba, the capital.

Military spokesperson for the SPLM/A-IO, Colonel Lam Paul Gabriel, said that the attack on their gathering site took place on Monday evening, pointing to the SSPDF as responsible for the assault.

He added, “The SPLA-IO camp in Wunliet near Juba was bombed.” Lam Paul condemned the act and called on the international community to intervene, saying, “SPLA-IO strongly condemns this planned act by the SSPDF and calls on the international community for urgent intervention to stop this violence.”

The SSPDF leadership has not yet responded to these accusations but promised to issue a response once they have gathered the necessary information about the incident. Major General Lul Ruai Koang, spokesperson for the SSPDF, told Aweil News Agency that the leadership is collecting the necessary information, and once that is done, the public will be informed.

“This brief message serves to inform all media agencies that a statement will be issued from the SSPDF Spokesperson’s office once all relevant information is received from operational commanders and camp leaders in the area, including Wunliet,” said Lul.
