President Salva Kiir Mayardit traveled today to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 38th Ordinary Assembly of the Heads of State and Government for the African Union.
The summit is being held under the theme “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations” and will focus on promoting reparatory justice and fostering racial healing across the continent.


The President’s Press Secretary, Lily Adhieu Martin Manyiel, stated that while in Addis Ababa, President Kiir will hold several sideline meetings with other leaders from the participating countries, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, to discuss the peace process in South Sudan, Sudanese refugees in the country, and issues related to climate change, among other topics that will be addressed in discussions among African leaders.
Lily added that President Kiir’s participation in the summit will demonstrate South Sudan’s commitment to regional cooperation, with a focus on peace, security, and economic development for the African continent.
