Report: Al-Naeim Mubarak Kuol

The Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ali Yusuf, sent a message to the African Union, which is holding a summit in Addis Ababa to discuss issues facing member states, including the crises in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

On Thursday, before the summit in Addis Ababa, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the African Union to assess the situation in Sudan and lift the suspension of the country’s membership.

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the letter from Minister Ali Yusuf Sharif was directed to the foreign ministers of the countries that are members of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council. The letter was delivered by Sudan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and the permanent representative to the African Union in anticipation of the Council’s meeting on Friday.

According to the statement, the letter provided a detailed explanation of the developments in Sudan, starting with the rebellion of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which launched a full-scale war against the Sudanese people and the state of Sudan. The Sudanese Foreign Ministry accused unnamed regional countries of supporting the RSF, describing these countries as not having the best interests of Africa in mind by supplying the RSF with the latest weapons and recruiting mercenaries from around the world, with their numbers reportedly exceeding 200,000 according to the Sudanese Foreign Ministry’s statement.
