The National Minister of Health, Ms. Yolanda Awel Deng, met with Warrap State Governor, Lt. Gen. Francis Marial Abur, to discuss the various health challenges currently facing the state.
In a press statement following the meeting, Minister Yolanda Awel Deng highlighted the severe consequences of the floods, including deaths caused by snake bites, waterborne diseases, shortages of medical supplies, and the displacement of healthcare personnel.

Minister Yolanda stated: “As most of you know, Warrap State has been greatly affected by flooding this year. As a result of these floods, we have faced serious consequences. For example, a large number of people have lost their lives due to snake bites and waterborne diseases.”
The minister emphasized the collective responsibility to support the affected areas and address the ongoing challenges.
The governor provided an update on the situation in the state and the challenges faced, particularly in the health sector. Efforts to provide relief to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and address the limited resources available for medical teams in the region were also discussed.

Lt. Gen. Francis Marial Abur stated: “I had a productive meeting with the honorable minister. She welcomed me, and I explained to her many of the challenges facing the health sector in my state. She pointed out that the floods have affected many people and caused the spread of several diseases. Through our discussions, she appreciated what I presented and promised to assist us in other ways.”

The meeting concluded with expressions of appreciation for the governor’s efforts and an emphasis on continued cooperation between the state and the National Ministry of Health.
