The Governor of Unity State, Justice Riek Bim Toub, called for peace and social coexistence between the citizens of Mayom and the Abiemnom district during a meeting in the Mayom district.
Governor Bim Toub stated that security disturbances are an urgent issue affecting the relationship between the Mayom and Abiemnom districts, which are part of the Ruing administrative area. He expressed concern over an incident that occurred earlier this month and called for the organization of a peace march aimed at promoting calm and stability in the region.

In his speech, Governor Riek emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence between neighboring communities, stressing that instability and conflict have negative effects on the unity of both regions. He also urged all concerned parties to cease cattle raiding, which has historically been a primary cause of enmity and division among local communities. He said, “I call for peace and reassurance between neighbors,” emphasizing the need for cooperation and mutual understanding.
Governor Riek Bim pledged that his government would take a firm stance against any acts of violence, confirming that those responsible for any attacks would be pursued and held accountable, ensuring they face justice. This commitment reflects a broader goal of promoting lasting peace and stability in Unity State, for the benefit of its people and the prosperity of the entire region.

The call for peace by His Excellency Justice Riek Bim Toub serves as a significant reminder of the power of dialogue and cooperation in overcoming disputes. The communities of Mayom and Abiemnom must seize this opportunity to strengthen their relationships and work towards a future of harmony and understanding.
