The London police carried out a controlled explosion of a suspicious package near the U.S. Embassy in London on Friday morning. A report had been received about the presence of the suspicious package in the area, prompting a police force to move to the location, close the road on the western side of the embassy, and carry out the explosion. No one was injured.
London’s Metropolitan Police said it would conduct investigations into the incident to determine who was behind the package.
According to the Associated Press, the Embassy stated on the platform “X,” formerly known as Twitter, that “local authorities are investigating a suspicious package outside the U.S. Embassy in London.”
The statement added: “The Metropolitan Police are present and have closed Ponton Road as a precautionary measure.”
