The national team recorded its first victory in the qualifiers at the expense of Congo

Our national football team won its first victory in the African qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations Morocco 2025. At the expense of the Congo Brazzaville team with three goals against two goals. In the fifth round match of the qualifiers, which took place yesterday afternoon at the Juba National Stadium.

The Shining Stars’ goals were scored by the brilliant Izbon Maalish “two goals” and Datta Elie. Congo Brazzaville’s Christopher Ebayi scored the brace.

Congo Brazzaville opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a perfect header from Christopher Ebayi. Izbon Maalish leveled the score for our team with a header from a throw-in in the 31st minute.

Christopher Ebayi added the second goal for Congo Brazzaville from an indirect free kick in the 35th minute. Izbon Maalish leveled the score with another header in the second minute of Additional time.

DR Congo defender Bass was shown the red card by the referee for obstructing our striker after a full breakaway in the 78th minute.

In the 84th minute, John Foligno’s perfect cross into the Congo half. Datta Elie scored the goal, and the winning goal for the Shining Stars in the match after he was one-on-one with the Congo Brazzaville goalkeeper.

With this result, our team obtained its first three points in Group XI, which is led by Uganda before their match with South Africa in Kampala today in the fifth round with 10 points, followed by South Africa with 8 points, Congo Brazzaville third with 4 points, and finally our team fourth with 3 points.

South Sudan will play the sixth and final round of qualifiers against South Africa in Pretoria on November 19. Uganda will play Congo in Brazzaville on Nov. 19.
