President Salva Kiir Mayardit of the Republic of South Sudan has received a detailed briefing from his Vice President for Infrastructure Cluster, Engineer Taban Deng Gai, regarding his recent tour to Unity State. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to support peace and national reconciliation and coincided with the centenary celebrations of the Catholic Church in the state.


During the meeting, Vice President Taban explained that his tour covered several areas and villages, where he engaged directly with local communities. He conveyed President Kiir’s firm message rejecting any return to conflict and reaffirming the nation’s commitment to peace and stability.
Taban noted that the people of Unity State warmly welcomed the peace messages and expressed their full support for the government’s efforts to strengthen security and promote development. He emphasized the urgent need to improve road networks and infrastructure as a key driver of community connectivity and economic growth.



In a related update, the Vice President announced the commencement of operations at the newly established mini oil refinery in Unity State. He stated that the facility is expected to bring significant economic benefits to residents of Unity, Warrap, Ruweng, and surrounding areas.
He also highlighted a noticeable increase in school enrollment rates among children, praising families for their role in encouraging education as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking government officials, including Vice President and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, and the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro.
