President Salva Kiir Mayardit and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny met to assess the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, as well as ways to address the current economic challenges, including the resumption of oil flows through Sudan, with the aim of promoting sustainable peace and stability in the country.
During the meeting, President Kiir directed the Ministers of Finance and Petroleum to coordinate their efforts to achieve economic stability and improve the welfare of the people.
The President said the government is aware of the suffering of the people of South Sudan and expressed his commitment to improving the situation.
The Presidential Adviser on Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak Manyiemi, announced an expanded presidency meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, to discuss the resumption of the Tumeni Peace Initiative in Nairobi, following a report by the High Level Mediation Committee on the ongoing talks between the government and opposition groups that reject the 2018 peace agreement.
