Ghana’s National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Chairperson, Kathleen Addy, has warned against hate speech and urged citizens to be mindful of their utterances during the upcoming General Election.
She urged Ghanaians to consider electing leaders based on proper assessment and not individuals who sought to attack and rain insults on their political opponents. Addy also urged citizens to participate in the upcoming elections, stating voting is an important civic responsibility.
She also advised against misinformation and disinformation, as they could lead to misunderstanding and tension. The credibility of the elections will depend on the performance of the Electoral Commission and the media, with the NMC working to ensure news coverage is based on verified facts
