Japanese Special Envoy Discusses Humanitarian Aid in Sudan

Today, the Deputy Chairman of the Sovereign Transitional Council of Sudan, General Shamseddin Kabbashi, met in his office in Port Sudan with the Japanese Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Mr. Shin Suki Shimizu. Kabbashi praised Japan’s efforts in supporting and assisting the Sudanese people during their hardship, including providing humanitarian aid to those in need.

Kabbashi reaffirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to those who need it and ensuring the movement of relief workers and humanitarian staff.

The meeting addressed the situation in Sudan, developments on the ground, the current crisis, and its impact on both the regional and international levels.

The two sides discussed the importance of coordination and working to strengthen joint cooperation between the two countries across all fields, as well as developing and expanding bilateral relations.

For his part, the Japanese Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, in a press statement, explained that the visit is aimed at launching the humanitarian aid provided by Japan, which includes vehicles, equipment, and refrigerated trucks for transporting vaccines to remote areas, particularly cholera vaccines.

He added that his government aims to enhance cooperation, provide aid, and stand with the Sudanese people during this crisis. He also mentioned that Japan plans to introduce several new projects to improve water supply facilities and hospitals in the Red Sea and Kassala states, as well as various projects in the fields of development, programs to support women, peace, security, and the economy in both the public and private sectors
