#The Sudanese Minister of Interior, retired Major General Khalil Basha Sairen, met with the United Nations Security Council expert team responsible for implementing Resolution 1591.
#In a press statement, General Sairen noted that the visit of the expert team was part of field visits aimed at assessing compliance with the terms of Resolution 1591. He mentioned that the meeting addressed issues related to the Ministry of Interior, including civilian protection and the efforts made by the Sudanese government to facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid.
#Sairen also highlighted that the Ministry of Interior is working to facilitate passport and immigration procedures, issuing entry visas for United Nations staff, and streamlining customs clearance procedures at ports and airports.
#The Sudanese Minister of Interior renewed the country’s welcome to the international expert team, noting that the outcomes of this visit may be more realistic and closely aligned with the actual situation in Darfur, unlike the previous report, which was based on information from neighboring countries.

#The minister pointed out that the current situation, especially in Darfur, may require assistance from the United Nations to provide protection amid the conditions of war and armed conflict.
#The Minister of Interior received the UN delegation at the ministry’s headquarters in Port Sudan, accompanied by the head and members of the national coordination committee responsible for monitoring the resolution. The committee is affiliated with the High Coordination Committee with the United Nations, headed by Sovereignty Council member and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Engineer and Navy Adviser, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jabir
