The National Minister of Youth and Sports Assures CECAFA Leaders in Juba of the Government’s Commitment to Supporting Sports

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Joseph Geng Akech, conveyed the greetings of His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Patron of Sports, to CECAFA leadership for choosing South Sudan as the host country for the 2025 General Assembly meeting.


The minister informed the General Assembly of the government’s commitment and ongoing efforts to enhance sports development in the country, highlighting three strategic priorities: establishing a Sports Development Fund, appointing Sports Ambassadors, and creating a Sports Science Institute, among other initiatives.
The minister encouraged the visiting sports leaders to promote the exchange of experiences among African countries in football to achieve collaboration and sports growth across the African continent.
