Wajuma Aweil achieved its first victory since the start of the South Sudan Premier League, at the expense of Nile City Yambio by three goals without a goal. The match between the two teams took place this afternoon at the Juba National Stadium, in the third round of the league.
Omar Taban Jeneina opened the scoring with a neat header following a cross from the right side of the Nile City goal in the 23rd minute. Sabri Mutwakil added the second goal for Wajuma from a one-on-one situation after exchanging the ball with his teammate Omar Taban Jeneina in the first minute of stoppage time of the first half of the match.
Before the end of normal time, in the 89th minute, Sabri Mutwakil increased Wajuma’s lead with his second goal of the match and his team’s third, after a cross inside the Nile City penalty area, which he met with a single touch into the goal. Wajuma Aweil secured their first win in the competition.
With this result, Wajuma took their tally to four points, moving them up to fourth place in the table on goal difference from Al Salam. Nile City remain in the penultimate position with no points.
Tomorrow, Holy Family Rumbek will face the challenge of Al Merrikh Bentiu in a highly anticipated summit clash between the two teams, in the final match of the third round of the Premier League.
