By Emmanuel M. Garjiek

The attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day resulted in 15 deaths and dozens of injuries. The identity of the perpetrator, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a former US Army soldier from Texas, was confirmed as the driver of the truck that sped into the crowd in the city’s French Quarter. Jabbar was killed in a shootout with the police.
President Joe Biden claimed that the attacker was inspired by the Islamic State group, and the FBI found an ISIS flag in the truck, which exploded hours later outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. However, Biden stated that no connection has been uncovered yet.
Additionally, a mother of a four-year-old child, a nurse, and a famous American football player were among the victims.
