Azerbaijan Declares National Day of Mourning Following Plane Crash That Killed 38

Azerbaijan announced Thursday as a national day of mourning after 38 people were killed in a crash involving an Azerbaijan Airlines plane.
The plane, carrying 67 passengers, veered off course and crashed in western Kazakhstan. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. Kazakh Senate Chairman Maulen Ashimbayev stated that it is currently “difficult” to ascertain what might have caused the damage to the plane.
The Embraer 190 aircraft was on a flight from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan located on the western shore of the Caspian Sea, to Grozny in the Chechen Republic of Russia in the Caucasus region. The plane crashed near Aktau, leading to the death of 38 people.
