The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has received a detailed report on the outcomes of the country\u2019s participation in the 2026 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which were held in Washington, D.C..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This came during a briefing delivered by a government delegation headed by the Minister of Finance and Planning, Salvatore Garang Mabiordit, and included the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, the First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, and the Undersecretary for Planning at the ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The delegation explained that it held a series of high-level meetings with officials from the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, during which they reviewed the main economic challenges facing the country, in addition to discussing ways to support economic recovery, enhance the investment environment, and strengthen financial stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister of Finance noted the Government of South Sudan\u2019s appreciation for the continued support and attention from the United States, highlighting promising opportunities for joint cooperation, particularly in the mining sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report also indicated that the meetings focused on the importance of capacity building and training national personnel in the financial sector, contributing to greater transparency, accountability, and improved efficiency of government institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
