The aim of the visit was to follow up on ongoing work and assess efforts being made to improve essential public services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the visit, the Vice President reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to supporting the health sector, describing it as one of the key pillars of national development. He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination among state institutions in order to enhance healthcare services and ensure their accessibility to all citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also commended the efforts of the Minister of Health, Sarah Cleto Rial, praising her leadership and dedication in guiding the sector despite the existing challenges. He further assured the ministry of his continued support in implementing reform programs aimed at achieving tangible progress in healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice President also applauded the Minister\u2019s unannounced inspection visits to health facilities across different states, noting that such initiatives contribute to improving staff discipline, boosting performance, and enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For her part, the Minister of Health outlined several key priorities that the ministry is working to implement as part of ongoing health sector reforms. She noted that these priorities focus on strengthening governance and strategic planning to create an institutional and financial environment that supports effective and sustainable healthcare service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She explained that among the major initiatives is the completion and validation of the National Health Strategy, as well as the implementation of what is known as the \u201cAccountability Bridge,\u201d which aims to integrate public financial management with the medical supply chain. In addition, efforts are underway to institutionalize joint budget review mechanisms between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance to ensure the optimal use of available resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Observers believe that the Vice President\u2019s visit represents an important step toward strengthening government oversight and support for the health sector.
