The Juba City Council yesterday carried out a comprehensive cleaning campaign in the Buaba Lo area of Gudele, led by the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Waste Management, Stephen Lomude. The initiative comes as part of the council\u2019s efforts to enhance community awareness on cleanliness and proper waste disposal practices.
During the campaign, the Deputy Mayor reaffirmed the council\u2019s commitment to improving sanitation across various neighborhoods in Juba, noting that certain areas\u2014particularly those under the Buaba Lo Gudele Bridge, where a number of homeless youths reside\u2014pose health risks that require urgent intervention. Lomude stated that the council prioritizes creating a clean and healthy environment for all citizens, urging residents to use designated waste bins and refrain from dumping garbage on the streets. He stressed that violators would be subject to legal action.
The campaign saw the participation of organized forces and neighborhood committees to ensure effective implementation of the instructions and to promote cooperation among residents. Engineer Lazarus Lemi Chacha emphasized the important role engineers play in supporting the council\u2019s efforts, highlighting their commitment to developing sustainable waste management solutions and improving the urban environment.
