The anniversary celebrations were held in the capital Juba<\/strong>, featuring a live broadcast from the Women\u2019s Union Centre<\/strong>. The event brought together journalists, public figures, civil society representatives, and a large audience of devoted listeners who actively engaged with the presenters through live calls and messages from various states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration included artistic and cultural performances<\/strong>, with readings of poems and national songs that have marked key moments in South Sudan\u2019s history. Laurence Ladu Luka<\/strong>, a volunteer teacher, shared his long-standing connection with Radio Miraya, which began in 2012<\/strong> when he was a student in Yei<\/strong>. \u201cI used to regularly follow shows like Miraya Breakfast<\/em>, Nationwide<\/em>, and Roundtable Discussions<\/em>. They deepened my interest in public affairs, and I still listen to them today,\u201d he said. \u201cI even participated in a radio program once, where I spoke about waste management issues in the capital \u2014 an experience I\u2019ll always remember,\u201d he added proudly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the younger generation, Apen Abraham<\/strong>, a student at Darling Wisdom Academy<\/em>, expressed her gratitude for the station\u2019s role in reaching remote communities. \u201cEven though you broadcast from studios far away, you give a voice to the voiceless and deliver reliable information to distant villages. Your impact is significant, and we hope it continues,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her classmate Safa Sarif<\/strong> shared how the live broadcast left a strong impression on her. \u201cIt turned me into a fan of Miraya. I now realize the importance of radio as a tool for education and awareness, and I\u2019ll make sure to follow it regularly,\u201d she said, pointing to the solar-powered radio device<\/strong> distributed to attendees during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
