This shift sparked violent incidents targeting civilians and forcing thousands to flee their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community leaders stated that the attacks caused mass displacement, widespread destruction of infrastructure, looting of civilian property, and the killing of civilians, including school students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement called for an urgent humanitarian response, demanding the immediate provision of food, clean water, non-food items, and shelter for displaced families in Tombura, Nagero, and Yambio. It also called for the distribution of medical supplies and the deployment of mobile health clinics to remote and affected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chiefs further urged swift diplomatic efforts to halt the violence, lift discriminatory restrictions, and launch independent investigations into alleged abuses against civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also stressed the importance of documenting human rights violations and holding perpetrators accountable, emphasizing respect for international humanitarian principles, the protection of civilians, and the promotion of peacebuilding, as outlined in the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) and international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement concluded with a stark warning that failure to act promptly could worsen the crisis: \u201cThe suffering of our people is real.
