Tottenham Hotspur clinched the UEFA Europa League title for the third time in their history, securing a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in an all-English final on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brennan Johnson scored the only goal in the 42nd minute of the match, held at San Mam\u00e9s Stadium, handing Tottenham their third title following previous triumphs in 1972 and 1984.<\/p>\n\n\n

With this victory, the London club secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League, despite finishing 17th in the English Premier League standings\u2014just above the relegation zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This also marks Tottenham’s first title since winning the English Football League Cup in 2008. The club now qualifies for the UEFA Super Cup, where they await the winner of the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for Manchester United, they end the season empty-handed and will miss out on European competitions next season after finishing 16th in the Premier League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United posed the greater threat in the first half, with several attempts by young Ivorian winger Amad Diallo, including a shot that went narrowly wide and another comfortably saved by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vicario also punched away a dangerous cross from United captain Bruno Fernandes. Tottenham gradually found their footing in the game but without any significant threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tottenham right-back Hugo Duro sent in a dangerous cross that was cleared by Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui before it could reach Brazilian forward Richarlison, who nearly capitalized on a follow-up effort that deflected off Fernandes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Late in the first half, Pape Sarr delivered a pinpoint cross that Johnson slotted home, scoring his fifth goal in 13 Europa League matches this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manchester United came out strong in the second half searching for an equalizer. Striker Rasmus H\u00f8jlund headed over the bar, and Mickey van de Ven cleared another header off the line following a major blunder by Vicario in the 68th minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four minutes later, Mazraoui delivered a cross from the right which Fernandes met with a header that went just wide. Vicario then showcased his reflexes again by stopping a powerful shot from Alejandro Garnacho in the 74th minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tottenham adopted a defensive approach for the remainder of the match and nearly landed a decisive blow when captain Heung-Min Son crossed to substitute Kevin Danso, who failed to connect with the ball in front of goal in the 85th minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The referee added seven minutes of stoppage time, during which United came close to equalizing with multiple chances, the most notable being a header from Harry Maguire that went just wide and a strike by Leny Yoro that flew over the crossbar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the dying moments, Diogo Dalot crossed to Luke Shaw, whose header was parried away by Vicario for a corner. Casemiro then attempted a bicycle kick from the ensuing play, but the ball landed on the wrong side of the net.
