{"id":4284,"date":"2025-04-16T17:27:55","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T15:27:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/derawetmedia.com\/?p=4284"},"modified":"2025-04-16T17:31:37","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T15:31:37","slug":"undersecretary-of-the-ministry-of-foreign-affairs-and-international-cooperation-participates-in-the-24th-extraordinary-session-of-the-african-union-executive-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/derawetmedia.com\/?p=4284","title":{"rendered":"Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Participates in the 24th Extraordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> By: Al-Naeim Mubarak Kuol <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambassador Agnes Oswaha, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, led South Sudan\u2019s delegation to the <strong>24th Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union<\/strong>, held today in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the session, the Executive Council elected <strong>Algeria<\/strong> as the representative of North Africa to the <strong>Peace and Security Council<\/strong>, <strong>Benin<\/strong> to the <strong>African Union Commission on International Law<\/strong>, and <strong>Chad<\/strong> to the <strong>African Space Council<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Council also discussed a report on the election of the Commissioner for <strong>Economic Development, Tourism, Trade, Industry, and Mining (ETTIM)<\/strong> and the Commissioner for <strong>Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (ESTI)<\/strong>. Additionally, reports from the <strong>Panel of Eminent African Personalities<\/strong> and the <strong>Bureau of the Executive Council<\/strong> were reviewed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambassador Oswaha conveyed greetings and congratulations on behalf of <strong>Amb. Mundaya Simeon K. Guma<\/strong>, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, to the newly elected officials, including <strong>Tete Antonio<\/strong>, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola and newly elected Chairperson of the Executive Council, <strong>Mahmoud Ali Youssouf<\/strong>, the new Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and all newly elected members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also expressed her gratitude to the Government of the <strong>Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia<\/strong> for the warm reception and generous hospitality extended to the South Sudanese delegation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During discussions related to the elections, Ambassador Oswaha reaffirmed South Sudan\u2019s commitment to <strong>African unity<\/strong>, based on mutual understanding and appreciation of the positions of all member states. She stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe Republic of South Sudan is committed to the stability and development of the African continent.
