The Vice President of the Republic and Chair of the Services Sector, H.E. Josephine Lagu Yanga, today received the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (Political Affairs) for the United Nations, Mr. Guang Cong, in her office for a visit to exchange views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the signatory parties of the peace agreement to foster dialogue and de-escalate tensions. Both parties emphasized the importance of diplomatic engagement to ensure peace and stability in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions also touched on the challenges in implementing the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) and the need for collective efforts to overcome these obstacles. Mr. Guang Cong reiterated the United Nations’ unwavering support for the Government of South Sudan in its peacebuilding and stabilization efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H.E. Josephine Lagu Yanga reassured that the situation is stabilizing and expressed appreciation for UNMISS’s continued support in promoting peace and security in South Sudan. She emphasized the government\u2019s commitment to fostering national unity and ensuring that the peace process remains inclusive and sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to peace and reconciliation. Through dialogue, cooperation, and shared responsibility, we will continue to build a stable and prosperous South Sudan. I call upon all stakeholders to embrace unity and prioritize the well-being of our people,” said Vice President Josephine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further encouraged the international community and development partners to maintain their engagement, highlighting the resilience of the South Sudanese people and their unwavering hope for a brighter future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Guang Cong commended the government\u2019s efforts and reaffirmed the United Nations’ commitment to providing the necessary support to facilitate dialogue and peacebuilding initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
