Economic reports from East Africa have revealed that South Sudan is now Uganda’s largest export destination, surpassing Kenya. This was disclosed in the latest data report from the Bank of Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trade ties between Uganda and South Sudan are experiencing significant growth, marking a major shift in the region’s economic landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In January 2025, Uganda exported goods worth $55.9 million to South Sudan, representing a 45% increase compared to December of the previous year, when exports were valued at $24.4 million. This surge has propelled South Sudan to the top position, surpassing Kenya, which has now dropped to third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
