The Abiye Municipality has ordered a reduction in the fare for passenger transport from Abiye to Wau City in the Bahr El-Ghazal region to 150,000 South Sudanese pounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Executive Director Malik Biem told Abiye FM Radio on Wednesday that the fare has been reduced from 200,000 to 150,000 South Sudanese pounds. This decision followed a meeting with the Drivers\u2019 Association, where an agreement was reached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Biem stated, “A unified fare was agreed upon because some drivers were charging different prices. We have only authorized registered transport offices within the municipality.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also warned violators of the order, imposing a fine of 200,000 South Sudanese pounds, a one-month jail sentence, and the revocation of their driving licenses in case of repeated violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Media Secretary of the Drivers’ Association in Abiye, Lawal Arop Bol, confirmed to Abiye FM Radio that they are committed to the agreement and the municipality’s decision, as their priority is to serve the citizens and avoid causing them any hardships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
