Sudanese politician and leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – Revolutionary Democratic Current, Yasser Said Arman, was arrested by Kenyan police on Wednesday at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, according to a reliable report from Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kenyan police approached him immediately upon his arrival at Nairobi Airport and informed him that there was an arrest warrant issued by Interpol against him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a report published by Sudan Tribune<\/em>, Arman was detained at the hotel awaiting investigation to determine whether the charges against him were political or criminal in nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the arrest was based on a message from the Sudanese Public Prosecution requesting the deportation of Arman to Sudan to face charges related to violations of Sudanese law and international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yasser Arman is one of Sudan’s prominent politicians and leaders of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement. He was born on October 5, 1962, in the city of Tabat in the Al-Jazeera State of Sudan. He has been active in Sudanese politics for decades, holding several key positions within the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the start of his career, Arman joined the Sudanese Communist Party during his studies but later became one of the prominent members of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in 1987. He played a pivotal role in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement that ended the war between North and South Sudan in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the secession of South Sudan in 2011, Arman remained with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North Sector and later became its Secretary-General.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, Arman has been involved in the Revolutionary Democratic Current of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-RDC), a faction he formed after his split from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North. He has always been an advocate for peace and democracy in Sudan and has faced numerous challenges, including arrests and detentions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
