The Council of Ministers of the Government of South Sudan discussed the progress made and the necessity of resuming the Tumaini Peace Initiative in Nairobi, Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was chaired by His Excellency, President Salva Kiir Mayardit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro, stated that the meeting focused on the challenges encountered during the previous round of talks between the Transitional Government of National Unity delegation and groups opposing the Revitalized Peace Agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Lomuro added that mediators have requested the Government\u2019s negotiating team to return to Nairobi for the final round of talks, scheduled for early next week.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Minister emphasized the importance of the Tumaini Initiative in stabilizing the country, noting that it aims to align its objectives with the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Lomuro reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to inclusivity and called on all armed groups to join the Tumaini Initiative so that this mechanism can comprehensively address and eliminate all manifestations of conflict in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further noted that these talks represent a new chapter for peace and expressed optimism that the initiative would lead South Sudan toward stability and unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
