The Governor of Central Equatoria State, General Agustin Gadallah Wani, stated that the Anti-Corruption Commission requires support and empowerment. This statement was made during his address at a two-day awareness workshop on the 2009 Anti-Corruption Law, as amended in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop aimed to increase awareness about the impact of corruption on institutions, economies, and social inequalities. It was held under the theme “Fighting Corruption through Collective Efforts and Legal Action.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gadallah emphasized: “The Anti-Corruption Commission in Central Equatoria State is making efforts by establishing integrity systems in the state. All arms of the government, non-governmental organizations, civil society, the private sector, and the media are working together to promote transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The governor urged government institutions, religious organizations, the media, and other stakeholders to disseminate anti-corruption messages, stressing the need to hold those practicing corruption accountable. He also highlighted the lack of funding as a challenge facing the commission in carrying out its duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
