The competition attracted a notable turnout of players, chess enthusiasts, and members of the public. Participants praised the initiative and the efforts made by the organizers, emphasizing the importance of such competitions in improving players’ skills and providing greater opportunities for competition and experience-building.
Several participants expressed their appreciation to the academy’s management and the organizing bodies, commending the strong technical performance demonstrated by the players on the opening day. They also expressed their determination to achieve better results in the upcoming rounds.

Captain Juuk Juong Juuk, coach of a chess team from Gumbo-Shirkat area, said his team delivered a good performance in the opening round and expressed confidence that his players would achieve positive results in the coming rounds.
Juuk explained that chess is not merely a sport, but also a means of developing intellectual and creative skills, enhancing players’ ability to plan and make decisions, while helping them develop self-discipline and learn how to deal with opponents.
He added that chess also plays an important social role by strengthening relationships among players and creating opportunities for communication and friendship. He noted that relationships formed around chessboards can extend beyond the competition to personal and social interactions.
The coach said the organization of the competition is part of broader efforts to develop young people’s skills and prepare them to participate in regional and international competitions, contributing to stronger representation of South Sudan in rapid chess tournaments.
At the conclusion of each competition, the top five players will be announced, honored, and awarded cash prizes. Participating clubs and teams will also receive certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contribution to the success of the competition.

The event is being organized in collaboration between the South Sudan Rapid Chess Federation, Nile Academy for Rapid Chess, and Scenius Hub Cultural Center, located in the Thongping area of Juba-Nabari. The competitions are held every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays.
The competition has attracted growing interest from chess enthusiasts, with broad participation from players and a notable presence of spectators, as the organizers seek to promote chess and expand its player base across South Sudan.
