President of the Republic, First General Salva Kiir Mayardit, has bid farewell to the Canadian Ambassador to South Sudan, Joanne Minns, following the completion of her diplomatic assignment in the country, praising the strong bilateral relations and cooperation between Juba and Ottawa.

During a meeting held in Juba, the two sides discussed several issues of mutual interest, including developments in South Sudan’s peace process, national preparedness to address the risk of Ebola outbreaks, and continued support for the healthcare sector.
President Kiir commended the role played by the Canadian Ambassador during her tenure in strengthening diplomatic and development relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of maintaining cooperation and partnership in humanitarian and development fields.
The meeting reflects the strong ties between South Sudan and Canada, which include cooperation in supporting peace and stability, humanitarian assistance, and strengthening essential services, particularly in the health and community development sectors.
