The embassies of Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, together with the European Union Mission, have condemned the attack targeting humanitarian workers from the John Dau Foundation in Duk County, Jonglei State.
In a joint statement published on the official U.S. Embassy in South Sudan account on the social media platform X, the diplomatic missions expressed their deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of those who lost their lives in the attack.
The statement called for those responsible for the attack to be held accountable, stressing that humanitarian workers and humanitarian assets must be respected and protected by all parties.
It further emphasized that humanitarian personnel should never be targeted under any circumstances and called for ensuring a safe environment that enables them to carry out their humanitarian duties without fear or obstruction.
