The South Sudan Red Cross has officially launched the Integrated Community Resilience Project (Pïïr Path) during an inception workshop held in Rumbek, Lakes State, with support from the Finnish Red Cross. The initiative aims to strengthen the resilience of local communities by enhancing their capacity to withstand and recover from various challenges.
The project will benefit communities in Rumbek Centre and Wulu counties through a comprehensive package of interventions focused on improving livelihoods, strengthening healthcare services, expanding Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programs, enhancing disaster preparedness and response, supporting peacebuilding initiatives, and promoting social inclusion.
According to the South Sudan Red Cross, the project is designed to help communities better prepare for crises, improve their response and recovery capacities, and contribute to more sustainable development and long-term stability in Lakes State.
The launch workshop was attended by Christine Abina, Deputy Secretary General for Programs at the South Sudan Red Cross, Tapiwa Chadoka, Country Manager of the Finnish Red Cross in South Sudan, representatives from the Lakes State line ministries, as well as development partners and other key stakeholders. Participants discussed the project’s implementation strategy and priorities to ensure effective coordination and the successful delivery of its objectives for the benefit of the target communities.
