Juba – Al Wadi
The Minister of Presidential Affairs, Hon. Africano Mande Gedima, held a series of diplomatic meetings with the Ambassadors of the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Sudan to South Sudan, focusing on the country’s political developments, preparations for the general elections scheduled for December 2026, and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the two nations.
During his meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, the Minister discussed the current situation in South Sudan, the ongoing political transition, preparations for the upcoming elections, as well as issues related to peace and security and the economic challenges facing the country. The two sides also reviewed the longstanding partnership between South Sudan and Norway and explored areas of continued cooperation between Juba and its international partners.

In a separate meeting, Hon. Gedima met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to South Sudan, H.E. Essam El-Din Mohamed Hassan Karar, to discuss ways of strengthening the historic relations and strategic partnership between the two neighboring countries. The talks focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, expanding investment and trade opportunities, and supporting regional peace and security efforts.
The two sides also reviewed preparations for South Sudan’s upcoming general elections, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability and promoting constructive cooperation as the country moves toward a peaceful democratic transition.
They further underscored the need for continued coordination and engagement between Juba and Khartoum to strengthen economic ties and support development and prosperity across the region.
