Al-Wadi: Arop Jongchol
Al-Merrikh Bentiu was crowned champion of the National Super Cup after defeating Jamus Juba in a penalty shootout (4–3), following a goalless draw in their match yesterday afternoon at the Juba National Stadium.

The team had lost last year’s National Super Cup title to Jamus Juba, after also losing the South Sudan National Cup final to the same opponent.

Under Sudanese coach Ibrahim Hussein, popularly known as (Ibrahoma), Al-Merrikh claimed their second major title, having won the South Sudan National League Championship in the season before last. Meanwhile, Jamus Juba lost their first final in which they participated, despite previously winning the Premier League title, two South Sudan National and Local Cups, and one National and Local Super Cup.

Al-Merrikh Bentiu thus ended Juba Buffaloes’ dominance over national competitions in the past two seasons.

Both teams will represent South Sudan in CAF tournaments this season —Jamus, as Premier League champions, in the CAF Champions League, and Al-Merrikh, as Cup runners-up, in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Just a few days ago, Juba Buffaloes signed Brazilian coach Héron Ricardo to lead them in the next stage.
