The Governor of Jonglei State, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, received a high-level government delegation led by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon. Albino Akol Atak Mayom, during an official visit to the city of Bor. The visit aimed to assess the humanitarian situation in areas at risk of flooding and potential cholera outbreaks.

The delegation included senior government officials and ministers from various sectors, among them:
- Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial – Minister of Health
- Dr. Joseph Geneg Akech – Minister of Youth and Sports and Acting Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation
- Gen. Stephen K. Goch – Chairperson of the Specialized Committee on Humanitarian Affairs and Human Rights in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly
- Hon. Mary Akech Bior – Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management
- Madam Kiki Gbeho – Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
They were joined by several other senior officials and representatives of UN agencies operating in South Sudan.
In a press statement, Governor Riek Gai Kok affirmed that the visit aimed to enhance coordination between the government and international partners to ensure an effective humanitarian response—particularly in light of growing concerns about widespread flooding and the potential spread of cholera in various parts of the state.

The delegation held extensive meetings with local authorities and community leaders in Bor and conducted field visits to flood-prone areas and internally displaced persons (IDPs) sites to observe the humanitarian conditions firsthand.
This visit is part of broader efforts by the Government of South Sudan to strengthen collaboration between government institutions and international organizations, with the goal of protecting vulnerable communities and improving the response to natural disasters and health emergencies.
