The President of the Republic, First Lieutenant General Salva Kiir Mayardit, has renewed his firm commitment to restoring peace and ensuring that the country does not return to war. This was stated during a meeting he had with church leaders in his office on Wednesday.

The Archbishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Dr. Justin Badi Arama, called on both the government and opposition forces to embrace peace for the greater good of the nation.

Badi stated that the church would continue to engage with all parties to make peace their top priority, in an effort to achieve sustainable peace for long-term stability in the country.

The clergies called on those carrying arms to abandon the conflict and embrace dialogue, in order to prevent the country from descending into further conflict.

In a gesture of unity, the President and the church leaders prayed for peace, calmness, coexistence, and unity among the people of South Sudan, working together to rebuild the nation.
