
Authorities in Western Equatoria State have arrested nine individuals on suspicion of being involved in committing crimes and disturbing security in the region.
Deputy Governor Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa confirmed that the nine individuals were arrested on charges related to attacks, arson, and looting in Yambio. He mentioned that the area had witnessed a series of criminal activities that caused fear among the community members.
Daniel emphasized the importance of protecting the people, securing residential areas, and ensuring peace and harmony. He reassured citizens that security forces have been deployed to restore stability and ensure children can attend school for their education.
Yambio County Commissioner Mbiko Barakati dismissed claims that homes belonging to the Balanda community were destroyed due to ethnic violence. He announced that all forces stationed at the checkpoints in Mbiti Yubu and Sug Siro had been withdrawn, leaving only police officers and National Security personnel to protect the local community.
